These works are a continuation of my self-portrait series. Expanding my exploration of cultural motifs and symbols within my heritage, I examine the liminal duality inherent in mixed identity. I bring distinct cultural references into a shared visual language through color and figuration. The thematic diptychs examine how multiple realities can coexist within a single body and narrative. My use of vibrant color draws from the maximalism and vitality of cultural expression. Color becomes both celebration and refusal, honoring the vivid hue of dynamic traditions while rejecting the constraints of Western whiteness, control, and purity.
